WHAT WORKS
It's important when starting a business to be familiar with your market. If you're a lash artist offering
services, you want to know the average skill level, price point and reputation of other businesses in
your area. By learning what's out there, you can come up with a plan to set your business apart.
The Facebook "Interests" list is a free and easy tool for staying inspired and keeping an eye on your
market. This is essentially a list of businesses whose updates you'd like to see, all in one place. You can
create a feed of your top local competitors. To keep it inspiring, I also throw in a bunch of brands and
service providers I love so I can see how they market to and engage with their fans. You'll be amazed
how watching other businesses, even if they aren't lash-related, will give you ideas for your business
and social media presence. You don't need to copy—just get inspired, and put your own twist on it!
To create your own Interests lists, go to your Facebook homepage, scroll down the lefthand menu
bar and click on "Interests." Select "Add Interests," give your new list a name and start adding
businesses you would like to see—with one click of a button. For example, some of my lists include
"All Lashes" (lash artists and supply companies), "Marketing" (a collection of brands I love), and
Inspire (a list of business mentors and coaching pages I refer to often). The sky's the limit!

eyelashes are the key to life, because they make everyone
